Job Description
CVICU-Registered Nurse
12 Hour Day
Under direct supervision the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the critically ill patient receives optimal care by demonstrating professional accountability in the acknowledgement of a compliance with accepted standards of nursing care of the critically ill and a commitment to act within ethical principles. The incumbent is the coordinator of all care delivered by various health care professionals to the critically ill patient. The incumbent uses independent, dependent, and interdependent interventions in the management of the patient. The incumbent staff member also demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. He or she must be able to assess and interpret data about patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the specific patient group.
