Title: Blood Center LPN/LMH/8:00am-4:30pm (1)
Employment Type: Full Time
Work Days: Mon-Fri
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Two years of formal education or training beyond high school or Associates Degree
Experience:
Training: Successful completion of accredited vocational school of nursing. 30 hour IV Course required.
License: Currently licensed or eligible for LPN licensure in the State of Florida
Other: Provide on call coverage evenings, nights, and weekends. Good communication and interpersonal skills required. Excellent customer service skill, ability multi-task, problem solve, and work independently. Basic knowledge of computer data entry and retrieval.
Our primary hours, as you know, are 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., but there are exceptions because each of our centers is open 1 night a week until 7:00 p.m.; in addition, our nurses take call , which would be once every 4 weeks, if we have all 4 positions filled and trained.
Job Summary:
JOB SUMMARY: The Blood Center Nurse is responsible for drawing blood from volunteer blood donors. Duties include interacting with prospective donors, providing information about blood donation, screening donors by conducting a mini-physical and a medical history interview, drawing blood according to specific procedures, administering post-donation care, and assisting donors who may experience reactions during or following their donation. The Blood Center Nurse must complete detailed documents and records pertaining to the donation. Performs donor center and therapeutic aphaeresis procedures to collect blood products or provide treatment. Other duties include preparing work areas and blood mobile for blood collection and restocking supplies. Clerical duties include filing donor cards, phone reception, operation of office equipment such as fax machines, copy machines, and printers, in additional to basic computer skills in the Blood Bank computer system.
