Emergency Department
Job Description: The role of the pediatric critical care transport nurse specialist is one of clinical, educational and administrative duties. The transport nurse specialist performs on-going assessment and stabilization of critically ill and injured patients in preparation of transport from referring hospitals to a tertiary care facility. During transport, the nurse continues to provide critical care assessments, treatment and interventions as directed by protocols and Medical Control Physician. Transport nurse specialist is also expected to assist in the day-to-day administrative duties and maintenance of the transport program. This includes but is not limited to: scheduling, performance improvement activities, conducting patient follow-up reports, and facilitating and conducting outreach education.
Registered nurse with a minimum of 2 years pediatric critical care or pediatric emergency care experience. BSN required. Experience in pediatric critical care transports preferred Current State of Connecticut RN license. CPR certification required. PALS
